He was a rogue too. Casimir is a rogue. He's not so bad. There must be a difference. How else am I supposed to stay sane? He must have only snapped that one time in his whole life. Just like me. It was my first time. That wasn't who I was when I fought to save my mother. I did it all for her. I thought it was chivalry. Was it something else? Is it my bloodline? Are Cromwell Rogues just what they say we are?

Still in my wolf form, I lunged at the rogue, biting into his forearm. He was big —bigger than any normal wolf should be. I tried to sever his forearm, but it was different. For a failed experiment, he had strong bones. Everyone joined in, but we quickly pulled away when we felt his skin coming together around our teeth. I tried again, and he kicked me several metres away. Riven rushed to my side, back in my human form. “Are you okay?” he asked. A soldier passed him his shirt, which he draped around me. The rogue stood idly by, no longer snarling, but the soldiers had their weapons pointed at him.

The rogues filled the air with their decaying scent, as they growled and snarled at soldiers, who were clad in their protective gears as they fought in their wolf forms. I joined Connor, Xander and Luke at the front line, who were all still in their human forms as they tore through the Rogues. "What's the status?" I asked, slicing through a rogue who tried to attack from behind. Connor cleared his throat. "We are winning. The rogues are easy to kill." My sword sliced through two at a time, and alarm bells rang in my head. "This is a distraction." A scream tore through one of the soldiers behind me, and the sight sent a shiver through me.

I sighed and let my tears silently fall. My heart was crushed at the thought that my mate, former or not, would leave me die after coming to rescue me in the fire the night before then declare to me that he’d rather be stuck with my sister than save me. Maybe they’re always meant to be with each other, both are born to ruin my life and then laugh afterwards. I blinked as heavy footsteps echoed in the dungeon’s hallway. I shot right to my feet and straightened. “Get up, Rogue!” The soldier commanded with coolness, the silver-edged whip in his hand glinted in the firelight.

he sighed, “Well, they were criminals…” I mumbled, “Rogues, darlings are not always criminals. My parents were rogue vampires for a while. A rogue is a person who is not in a pack or into society; it does not mean they committed a crime,” he sighed, and I squinted my eyebrows. “Are any of those guys the case?” I asked, and he took a deep breath. “No, two of them attacked a pack and killed several warriors, and the other one robbed a shop and killed the owner,” he said, and I took a deep breath.

That was when the Rogue's lips twisted into a chilling smile, and his gaze slowly turned toward us. "Don't you even know the crimes you've committed?" His voice rasped like an old, broken instrument. "Are you talking about the soldiers from Valdora torturing captured Rogues?" Julian asked calmly. The Rogue silently clenched his fists. Julian spread out a few photographs on the bed—images of the nine captives who had disappeared. "Do you recognize them?" "You actually don't know who he is?" The Rogue had a faint smirk on his lips as he looked at one of the photos. "The 22nd of August was his funeral."

What does the term 'Rogue' mean to you? To some, it may mean a person that has been dishonest or disloyal. A person willing to go against the norm. To others, it could mean a person that's been cast out due to their savage or destructive tendencies. But to me, a rogue is just a person that has been condemned to live a life outcast from everyone else. A rogue is a person that's forced to fight for their survival on a regular and constant basis.

If it weren’t for the weird feeling I got, I would have hired him. Looking at the application, I saw this guy's name was Landon Miller. Scanning his information, I noticed he was a Rogue. Rogues weren’t disqualified, but they had to give a reason as to why they were a Rogue. Apparently, the guy had been a member of a different Pack and left to serve in the military.

A howl sounds some distance in the front, just at the same time a group of rogues leap out of the bushes. I spring into motion immediately, all my training kicking in. I knock the first one down just before he shifts into his wolf, wrapping the wire around his neck and pulling hard. Suddenly, the clearing is a battlefield. Weapons clash against weapon, rogues fall down. I roll to the side, avoiding the snapping of fangs as a wolf lands where I stood a second ago. From the corner of my eye, I see Ragnar watching it all from the sidelines, like a messenger of death himself.

I landed hard, quick, and strong, surprising the soldiers. “What the—?” A soldier weakly said, eyes wide as they looked at me. In a sudden shock, chaos broke out, men rushing for their guns, but I was already there, teeth showing and claws ready. I leaped at the nearest soldier, biting down hard on his shoulder. “Get her!” another soldier yelled, but their fear only pushed me to go faster. Axel had moved too, his huge body crashing into the group. Together, we were a storm, claws ripping through skin and hair, our roars mixing with the sounds of chaos. The rogues disappeared from view no one wanted to intervene, especially when two wolves ruled the space.
