"No, I'm not. I'm the editor." "Wow!" I was quite surprised. Pretending to open another book, I asked as I showed the cover of the book I was holding, "An erotic novel? You edit these too?" The cover was just plain dark with a line of letters indicating the title and the author's name, but the content was a poison of desire. "Not many, but some." Ben nodded this time. He took a step closer, emphasizing our height difference as he raised his hand up over my head. "This too."

I replied to her, and she nodded. "I've not introduced myself. My name is Beatrice, the Chief Editor of Hall Of Fame and Romance entertainment industry. It's nice to finally meet you in person. I've read some of your works, and I must confess that you are really good at what you do," it always hits differently whenever someone gives me a review about my work in person. Although I got that a lot, it still always feels new whenever someone did it to me. "Thank you," I smiled at her, and she nodded her head.

"I mean, I didn't like my job," she said, laughing. "Trust me, being an editor is extremely stressful. It's hard work, long hours, and little pay." "I'm sure it's rewarding, though," I said, trying to be supportive. "It is. In a way, I love reading novels," she said, a small smile on her lips. I nodded then noticed some chocolate on the corner of her lips. “You've got something there,” I said, pointing to her lips.

That the fantasies and the thoughts of writers reflecting on their stories. I do have 5 years of experience in editing but this is the first one I handle such a heart breaking story. Anyway, I arrange these stuffs and tucked myself into bed. I close my eyes and let the darkness eats my consciousness. The next Day I am now inside the building where I work. “Good morning sir” an employee greeted me. “Morning” Just my usual answer. Then I walk away and went straight to my office. Before that I stop in the front of vending machine and take a coffee.

“They’re editors, their job is to edit. Correct grammar, typos and spelling, stick a comma in here and there, or question a specific line, but not change the entire text of the manuscript. One publisher re-wrote the complete opening paragraph, told me she liked her version better, but I didn’t agree and we parted company that afternoon. These are my words, Alex. I have to be true to what I write and I won’t compromise my principles for some publisher whose only interest is the bottom line. I’d burn it in the fireplace before I’d allow anyone to tamper with my work.” Alex felt the intense determination in her tone. Even though she’d just expressed her contempt toward impersonal editors and pu

"Eng... .. what does that mean?" "Well, for example... what's trending right now is fantasy with romance, or about journaling that is booked, then I check also... what other genres are developing. We publish not only novels Li, not only romance, not only thrillers, but we also release many genres ... ranging from lovers of will, plant lovers, horror, children's books, chick lit, teen, religion, there are all ... well I see which ones are on the rise in all these genres. For example, in religion ..so when the demand rises, we're ready for a new print run! There is no pause so that sales remain at maximum. That's it..." I scratched my head, I thought the editor's job was only to take care of t

While this may be my day job, but my true love is novel writing. I have three published Sci-Fi books so far, with another one in the works, but lately, my editor has been pushing me to write a romance novella. Ugh, I hate the thought of writing a stupid unrealistic romance book again, especially after what happened between Alex and me. It's the whole reason I changed genres. But, I'll see this as a challenge, and I'm sure I can do it again. People write romance novels all the time, right? Well, as soon as I went into my personal emails that afternoon, I cringed.
