I clenched my fists, watching the fight unfold. Newton rose shakily, blood dripping from his mouth. He snarled, lifting his claws and chanting in an ancient tongue. The ground beneath Morana trembled as vines erupted, wrapping around her massive legs and pinning her in place. Newton grinned, his confidence returning. “Let’s see how tough you are now.”

The crack echoed through the chamber like a gunshot. Two more came from the left. He took the first one by the throat and used it as a shield against the second, felt the bite go into the wrong target, heard the screech, dropped them both. The third one was smarter — circling, watching, waiting for an opening. Nero gave it one. It lunged. He stepped inside the lunge, got a hand under its chin, drove it back into the wall hard enough that the stone cracked behind it. It slid down and didn't get back up.

The male went instantly limp and slumped to the floor. Onyx cursed in surprise when water suddenly sprayed at his face; the remaining wolf had turned on the faucet and curled his hand in the flow of water to make it spray at Onyx. Taking advantage of Onyx's distorted vision, the wolf aimed a mean kick at his face. Onyx managed to dodge the move, but the kick still caught him on his shoulder. Totally pissed, Onyx grabbed the next leg that came at him and twisted sharply, breaking the bone. The wolf screeched through his teeth and fell flat on his ass, satisfying Onyx's enraged wolf.

Seeing his gun knocked away, he lunged for it, but Austin grabbed his wrist and twisted it behind his back. “Let go!” Arron roared, his eyes wild. Alexi tried to stand, her knees shaking. “Austin! Be careful!” Arron slammed his back into Austin, and both of them crashed onto the asphalt, grappling violently. Shouts, heavy breathing, and the sounds of impact tore through the air. Arron managed to flip Austin over, climbing on top of him and pinning his shoulders. His hand grabbed a large rock and raised it high. “I’ll make sure you never get up again!” Arron snarled, madness in his eyes.
