Mahina walked over and whispered, “I don’t understand what is going on. Who won?” Cameron whispered back, “I don’t know chess that well. I have no idea either.” Waylon looked up at her. “Cam, can you come over?” She pointed at herself. “Me?” Mahina pushed her over. Waylon got up. “You continue playing this.” “What?” Waylon made her sit down and leaned down next to her. “Trust me.” Cameron looked at the board. When she didn’t know what move to make, Waylon said, “Move the bishop up three spots and block the rook.”

A hefty tip. The woman's eyes widened slightly, but she took it and uttered a low thanks before going back to do her job. "Yes," I murmured, still getting used to being associated with a name I knew almost nothing about except for the power and protection that came with it. "Nikolai," he held out a hand. "It is nice to meet you, Black Rose." I took his hand, not wanting to be rude. His palms were soft, dry, and the warmth of it caught me off guard. He held me longer than necessary before letting go.

Leo exhaled sharply through his nose, more a grunt than a laugh, leaning back as the tension drained from his shoulders. “I give up,” he muttered, dragging a hand down his face. “I can’t beat you. Not today. Not ever.” I didn’t answer immediately, my gaze lifted instead, slow and unhurried landing on him and like always… I didn’t see a man. I saw a chess piece. A rook. Second most valuable piece on the board. Strong. Reliable. A force when placed correctly but still replaceable when the game demanded sacrifice. My head tilted slightly as I studied him the same way I studied every piece before a move.

Opening the door, he met the grinning face of the dweeb he was starting to hate, holding a rose flower and a fancy package from the famous 'Luis soups and warmth'. The young heir's aura turned a shade darker as his fists voluntarily fisted... *** "Nooo!" Arian De' Argent screeched as Natalia screamed out her triumphant "Yesss!" They'd been playing chess in his room for hours and the merciless Royal was kicking his lousy ass! Natalia stood up and did her 24th victory dance. "Hey you!...Yes you!...Who won??...I did!" She sang merrily and hopped around his sitting room where they were.

Rose smiled and said. “You think too much. I’m just pretending all this while. About my acting skills... haven't Aunt Rose seen it a long time ago?” Adrian smiled, stood up, and looked at Rose. “We had been working together for a long time. Do you still don’t understand me? To achieve some goals, I will do whatever is necessary, regardless of whether my opponent is a man, a woman, or an animal.” Rose’s finger stunned for a while. But these moves, they....caught me by surprise, and I didn't know what to do next," he paused lengthily, staring at Harmel as he continued to speak, " But, in the end, I rethought my strategy, and this bishop was the one that helped me get that checkmate." he said, squinting his eyes towards Harmel and raising the figurine he had. They exchanged gawky glances, then Alvatrone decided to turn his attention towards Drom.

I used to play with Eleanor but since we weren’t as close as before, I learned how to play solo. I know the moves, and I know the roles of the pieces.
