The demon knelt naked beside the tub, hair still a mess hanging into his eyes, the marks of the night—bites, scratches, sweat—slowly fading in the moist air.
When he looked up at Rea, he grinned wickedly.
"Come, little warrior," he teased. "Let me scrub you clean before the midwife sees you and demands I pay for the sheets."
Rea sat at the edge of the bed, wrapped in a blanket, her bare, flushed knees peeking out.
She still looked worn, but not with weakness anymore—more like the lazy, satisfied fatigue that only a night of passion can leave behind.
"If you say 'scrub you clean' one more time, I swear I'll crawl back into bed and play dead," she muttered, but couldn't suppress a smile.
