Ara laughed at her excitement. She put the feline down and made her way to the shelf where the food was kept. She took a plate as well and placed it in front of the hungry Ruby. After fixing Ruby her dinner, Ara slid back into her bed and grabbed her book from the table. She parted the book from where she had left and started reading. A few days passed by uneventfully. She hadn't gotten any revert yet. Every time she got worried she reminded herself that she wasn't alone, he was with her. God would find her away.

Ava’s POV Sleep was a stranger that night. I had tossed and turned until the moon itself had traveled halfway across the sky, the glow through my curtains mocking my exhaustion. My wolf stirred restlessly beneath my skin, as though aware of my turmoil but refusing to share its calm with me. Every breath in the dark felt stifling, every thought circling back to Diego, to Sage, to the chains of my family’s expectations. I finally pushed the covers off with a sigh and padded to my balcony doors. The air outside was cool and heavy with the faint scent of rain. The courtyard below looked peaceful, but peace was the last thing inside me.

Inside was my shredded suit. And the photo frame she'd stomped to pieces. Ruby sank to the carpet and tried to put the suit back together. But it was destroyed. No fixing it. She hasn’t slept a full night in weeks. She wasn’t even sure why, but she’s been having these strange dreams. Lana cut her off gently before hurrying out the door. Now Alone, Ruby began to prepare for the day. She took a quick shower and slipped into a simple dress. As she brushed her long, shining red hair, she offered herself a silent affirmation. “I will have a good day today. He won’t find me.” She breathed out the words, a fragile hope clinging to them. Then, with a deep sigh and a silent prayer, she left the apartment. Despite having only spent a week in New York and still navigating the unfamiliar rhythm of city life, Ruby managed to find her workplace with surprising ease. A short bus ride followed by a brief walk brought her to a small little coffee shop nestled on a corner.

The garment shimmered under the light, accentuating her beauty. "My goodness," my subconscious whispered, awestruck. "Whatever she wears is absolutely gorgeous for her." Alex's fascination remained unbroken, his eyes locked on Christiana. "Alex, Alex..." I tapped him loudly, breaking the spell. He turned to me, inquiring, "Who's that girl?" I hesitated, uncertain how much to reveal. "She's Christiana, Natalie's cousin," I replied. Alex's eyebrows arched, intrigued. "Natalie's cousin?" he repeated, his gaze drifting back to Christiana.

She dug the novel out from beneath a stack of correspondence she'd been using to bury it, dust gathering faintly along its spine, and sat with it open in her lap for the first time in nearly two weeks. *The Villainess's Ruin.* She'd read it once, in her old life, curled up with tea gone cold beside her, treating it as nothing more than pleasant escapism before bed. She read it now with an entirely different kind of attention, searching each page for anything she might have skimmed past the first time, anything that might connect, however loosely, to a name like Renshaw.

Ruby screamed at the top of her lungs as her fingernails started to pierce my skin. As soon as I felt that prickling feeling as drops of blood curled from the small cuts her fingernails made on my neck, the door opened violently and my vision caught a huge silhouette entering my office and for a second, the hands around my neck were gone and Ruby was already on the other side of the room with Alpha Ray gripping both of her hands behind her back. “Ray,” I murmured his name in surprise. Ruby paused to pull back the blanket that was stuck to her legs, standing on her bare feet. "The truth is that there are no truly sane people in this world, they have a madness that is sometimes invisible. They're just trying to stay sane so they don't walk naked on the streets," Ruby continued softly. Noah was increasingly intrigued by Ruby's way of thinking. The first time he met Ruby was when she was in her teens and very innocent. Then he met Ruby again when she was 25 years old. And now they met again when she was almost three years old -even though she had known Ruby for many years, Noah was still amazed by the way Ruby's mindset now looked more attractive and charming.
