Every spark, every flare of light, every pulse of energy screamed that they were a force no one could break. But then—a terrible crack, louder than stone breaking. The chamber floor split beneath Kade’s feet. The ground trembled violently, sending him stumbling toward Lyra and Rylan. A shadow exploded from the fissure, black as a void, and the intruder leapt from the floor, dagger raised high. Rylan growled, lifting Lyra instinctively, shifting fully, fur bristling, gold eyes blazing. Lyra’s chest flared with white-gold energy, the bond screaming like a living thing. But even as they braced, the shadow coalesced—tall, immense, pulsing with dark power. The Winter Wraith had arrived.

We walked to the arena. I felt something cold on my cheek. Kaya looked up to the sky. Tiny white snowflakes had begun to come down. Winter was officially here. Kaya mind linked me: "Will the snow stop, or will it just keep coming like it does in the North? Once it starts, it never stops until the spring." I smiled at her. "No, it will stop and start and stop again. It does not snow every day."

Elara walked out of the building into the gray light of the valley. The storm from the north had had arrived, the first heavy flakes of winter snow were falling down through the trees like ashes from a fire. The timber wolf was still standing on the ridge above the road, his eyes watching her. His eyes were a pretty gold color. The wolf and the woman were just standing there looking at each other. They were standing in the middle of an empty space with forty yards of cold hard stone between them. The woman did not call out to the timber wolf. She did not get her fire ready. The timber wolf did not call out either. The winter was going to be a long one. The timber wolf and the woman were two

“He intends to make an example of what occurred.” His expression darkened slightly as he continued. “He will use the fate of the Alpha who dared to trespass into our territory." Ragnar lifted his gaze toward the vast front glass wall of Bruno’s den, his sharp eyes settling on the faint snowfall drifting down from the darkened sky. The snow was falling gently. Fine white flakes descended in a slow dance, brushing against the transparent glass before melting into nothingness. “It’s already winter,” Ragnar said. “It’s mating season… but I don’t feel any desire for it right now.”

And so, the CEO of Brightstone Group carried one of them on his back and the other in his arm. The stillness of the night held in it a certain kind of serene beauty. Xavier repeatedly tried to win Gabriella's heart, but she never agreed to get back together with him. Afterward, he barely had a chance to steal a kiss. It was his sheer shamelessness that kept him going. Eventually, autumn gave way to winter. It was December when Brindley welcomed its first snowfall. It came down hard and blanketed everything with a thick layer of white. A lot of shops were forced to close.

The cold that had leeched inside me would never leave, I was sure of it, but, be it placebo or not, I felt warmer as we neared my home. Still hyper aware that anyone could be watching us, I hauled myself up and kept walking. The pad of my paws against frosty earth made my heart sing. It was still winter, and cold, but not bitterly so, and as we reached the centre of Blue Moon’s territory I would feel the sun on my face. ‘Do they still have those cinnamon swirls in winter?’ asked Ares. I let my jaw fall open in a wolfish grin. ‘They do.’ ‘Annia will love them.’

Happy asked, and Snow placed her hand on her forehead. “Something... someone is in danger,” she muttered. Her head hurt. The voice had returned whispering thoughts into her mind. They were too loud, too much to comprehend. Something wasn’t right. She had seen something she shouldn’t have. It was a blonde. There was a sword made of wolfsbane in her hand, and she had slashed through a female werewolf’s gut. The girl was curled up on the ground in pain. “You can’t save them. You can’t save her. You can’t save anyone,” the blonde muttered. She moved fast, and in a blink, she was standing in front of Snow, plunging the sword into her chest.

Mason’s POV The wind bit at my cheeks as I carved down the slope, snow spraying in a sharp arc behind me. Winter had settled fully over the campground. It was thick, cold, relentless, but skiing days like this made it feel almost beautiful. Raven was a few feet ahead of me, whooping as she picked up speed, her pigtails flying like dark streamers behind her. “Slow down, you menace!” I yelled, laughing despite myself. She threw her head back. “Try and catch me!”

But the white particles flowing through my windows aroused my curiosity. I rose and walked out on the balcony despite my feeble body. I extended my hand and let one snowflake fall on it. The first snowfall of the season has arrived. The sight was breathtaking, but what bothers me is the notion that it will be a heating season soon. The worst season for a mateless werewolf. "Aria!" My attention was quickly drawn to the knocking on the door. The voice sounds like Mysha. I sighed once more before walking to the door.

I said in a kindly way. "I thought you weren't a jerk, but I see that you really are just like or worse than the bullies at school; only you have a lot more power to hurt and perpetuate that you're a textbook fool who can get away with anything," Winter said without biting her tongue, and she walked away with her food order. I didn't approach her table because I wasn't in the mood to deal with her being Snow's watchdog. "Is something wrong with Snow?" asked Rai, while Caleb and Max were amused talking to Britney.
