I nodded, and he listed off some other instructions—no shellfish, soft cheese, or alcohol. “Oh, and no shifting,” he cautioned. “Not if you can help it, especially not in the third trimester. It puts too much stress on the fetus. She-wolves have lost babies due to shifting.”
Lost babies? No way I was going to lose this baby. “No shifting,” I repeated diligently. Mercury protested—she enjoyed her runs in the forest with Storm—but I told her she’d just have to wait.
