“Air power. Check!” Up on a ridge, Archer watched the chaos unfold. “They’ve got this,” he muttered to himself, not wanting to miss the fun. He raised his hand, and a glowing bow of pure energy appeared in his grasp, a shimmering arrow already notched. “Time to join the party.” He released the arrow, and it shot through the air, piercing an ogre’s chest with an explosion of light. The beast roared in pain and crumpled to the ground. “Bullseye!”

He said as Emma got down covering the back of her head. Just when Hunter was about to speed down the car. He noticed one of the guys throwing spike strips on the road making Hunter growl. Before any of those guys could reach the car Hunter stepped out. "Don't come out, Mom, and call Draken," Hunter rumbled as he slammed the door shut locking the car. He got on the car's roof in two long strides and aimed his gun at the f*ckers coming his way. Hunter was able to kill a few of them but they were too many.

Before I can even say anything else, Archie opened the car's backdoor for me and forced me to go in without saying a word. Honey, on the other hand, was sitting next to Archie. She turned a little to look at me with worry in her eyes. “Are you okay, Ms. Savannah?” She worriedly asked when Archie opened the door and entered the car. “Archie, can you at least feed us with some information? We don't even know what's happening right now!” “What's happening is Schuyler's in danger! Fuck!” He started the car and was driving away when the motorcycle riders’ signaled something to him before they drove away.

He didn’t look at me, didn’t speak immediately, but I saw the way his jaw clenched, the tension rippling through him. “Michael…” he began carefully, “does the boss know?” I turned my head toward him, my smile sharp as glass. “Of course not, and he doesn’t need to. This is between me and Archer.” His brows furrowed faintly, though the sunglasses still hid most of his reaction. “The boss gave me one order to keep you safe. Going after Archer is wrong.” “Maybe,” I said, leaning back in my seat, letting the leather cradle me. “Or maybe it’s the only way I will ever feel safe again. Archer tried to kill Ashley. He put a bullet in my best friend. You think I can sit still knowing that?”

Ruby For the first time since I could think of, I saw Archer give a wide boyish smile. Somewhere deep within me I knew he was being sincere and that he genuinely wanted me back but the hurt was just too fresh and deep. As if he was going to pull the stars out of the sky, Archer launches himself into the air. His jersey rides up, exposing a sliver of milky flesh right above the line of his shorts. The sight makes my stomach do a cartwheel. I swallow thickly. This may be more interesting than I expect it to be.

Archer slowly opened his eyes to see the adorable little girl before him. He was stunned for a moment, then used his last bit of strength to try smiling at her, to tell her not to be afraid—but that smile looked more painful than crying. "Don't... don't be scared," he whispered, his voice weak and nearly lost in the space around them. Archer's white T-shirt was soaked with blood, the shocking red spreading across the pale fabric like blooming devil's flowers. His face was white as paper, lips trembling slightly.

But this was still much much better than being in the middle of the fight. “Mia, are you ready?” Archer asked again, offering me his hand. It’s now or never, Mia! It’s do or die… Show them that you’re the badass bitch that you’ve always pretended to be! I couldn’t form any words so I just placed my hand in his, holding onto him tightly. Archer stood up from the ground with his gun pointed forward and I followed. We ran, hand-in-hand, through the scary scene where people were trying to shoot each other while our people tried to cover for us.
