BLOOD AND VOWS --- CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO HIS FIRST KILL “A man doesn’t become a monster. He just finds out what was already in him.” He was thirteen the first time someone handed him a gun. It was a summer night in Palermo. The kind of heat that clings to the bones. Alessio Moretti stood in the back of a butcher shop that doubled as a safehouse, blood on the floors, sweat on his neck, the sound of meat hooks swinging faint in the dark. Don Salvatore was there. So was his father. And in the middle of the room, tied to a chair, was a man with a bag over his head and a bruise blooming around his eye.

Samantha “Sex?” Nick’s voice was even more confused than when we had begun. “When you take the Silverclaw oath, and name the family as yours, you have a very strong desire to be with Samantha, and her you.” Angel explained. “We had no idea at the time, she was messing with some chemicals and tech, managed to change her blood, even her very core. A blood oath was to give me similar abilities, and it did…but it did more than that.”

The fire immediately began to spread as the demon snarled and spat again. “Come here, you ugly fuck,” I roared as I whipped my chains forward. The creature growled as my chains wrapped around one of its snapping heads. The other heads tried spitting on me but I quickly planted my feet on the ground and pulled hard. The chains bit into the neck as the monster thrashed around and soon, a sickening crack resounded through the trees. Black blood sprayed into the air as the head fell to the ground with a wet crunch.

She ran straight into Ethan's arms, trembling like a fragile, helpless bird. "Impressive, Mr. West. Truly, you're a once-in-a-lifetime perfect husband," Amber mocked, her every word like a slap across Ethan's face. However, his body instinctively shielded the woman in his arms. I looked into his eyes, my body pressed against the railing. I calmly said, "Ethan West, you want me dead." His brows furrowed even deeper. He denied it, saying he did not want to play childish games with me anymore.

He stood up and remarked, “Um, I am not the one who is gushing out blood right now!” The demon stood before him and then launched at Scott in a furious attack. Scott spun out of the way he stabbed the demon again in the throat. This time, the demon broke free of the claymore swing as it hit segments and scale as it slid out of its neck and slumped its head down to go for the kill, as it dove at Scott, who did an overhead strike. The head didn’t come off in one go. It tore straight off. Black fluid sprayed onto the coach’s windscreen, stinking of storm drains and burnt rubber. The demon collapsed with a slam that cracked the road. The head spoke, “You will die smiter, and we are many.”

Their faces turned pale. ​"You have a demon locked in a cage somewhere in this castle," I continued. My voice was mocking them now. "But that demon’s blood is making you sick. It’s too dark, too poisonous. That’s why you need me. I’m half-wolf and half-demon. My blood is the perfect mix and It’s the only thing that can save you isn't it seraphina?" ​

He kissed my hand, and I felt the shiver of the mate bond in that fragile touch. “You can control it?” I looked over at Samual, who for a second I had forgotten was even there. I shrugged. “It’s not control,” I said, “More neutralise. The books all said that the divine warrior appeases the demon bloods. I guess that is what is happening here.” Samuel watched me with wonder before turning to Drake. “Were you aware of this?” he asked, and Drake shook his head. He looked over at me and narrowed his eyes. “Although I might have known it if someone had visited the Order at least one of the many times that I had suggested it.”

All the doubts that he could be Lestat disappeared from many creatures' minds who had never seen him and had just learned that he looked like Theodore's younger brother when that wizard and vampire appeared near a girl whom Brandon recognized as Delilah, who used to work with Colton. Already having a good idea of what I’ll find, I step inside it to see that everywhere is an utter mess. Samantha is lying on my bed, as still as death, with her eyes open wide in shock. My entire bedsheet, which is white in color, is soaked in blood. There’s so much blood everywhere … on the floor … on my bedside table and lamp, and even on walls. I feel a sharp pang of hatred for the demon called Charlotte. I can’t think of her as my sister any longer, because it galls me that I’m related to such a person.
