Jack slammed into Scott—elbows, knees, a war of edges. Scott moved like a bad dream—stronger than math, faster than sense.
“You can’t beat me, Jack!” he roared. “I’m invincible!”
“Too much of anything kills,” Jack said, knifing another syringe into his ribs.
Scott laughed; the laugh broke. Veins flashed black. Bone creaked. Claws and horn and nightmare peeled out of him like a confession.
