I rolled my eyes dramatically at his suggestive question and instead sat down onto the soft, cool sand, digging my feet slightly into the grains.
I heard him release a low, satisfied chuckle before settling down comfortably beside me. We sat in silence, watching as the sunset slowly kissed the ocean horizon, painting the vast sky in streaks of fiery orange and deep violet.
“How old are you, Sano?” I asked, turning my head to face him.
He looked at me, momentarily confused by the sudden, casual question, but he answered immediately. “Thirty.” A familiar, confident smirk suddenly played on his lips as he leaned back, resting his weight on his hands. “Too old for you, little Soltharic?”
