Fix what I broke. I licked her until she was clean, until the wounds had sealed, until the only thing left was the slick of my saliva and the faint pink of healing flesh. Her taste flooded my mouth — blood and salt and her, the deep musk of her arousal mixed with my claim — and something stirred in my new body. Hardened. Wanted. I could take her again. She was right here, open and soft and mine. The wolf in me growled with need, urging me forward.

“Are you ready to be my slave, Mafia Boss?” He smirked. I could see the desire burning in his eyes. “I’m yours, my queen.” I grinned widely. I captured his lips and kissed him deeply. Yes. Who would have thought? The man I met in that club would be the same man who brought happiness back into my life. And I’m willing to spend the rest of my life with him. “Once you enter their world, there is no turning back.” My pulse jumped. “Their world? What does that mean?” I asked, voice smaller than I wanted. Her fingers moved across the worn table, tracing invisible lines. Then she looked at me, and her eyes were suddenly far too clear. “They will mark you,” she said. “Once you enter their world, you will not leave it. You are not running away, child. You are walking toward something far more dangerous.” I swallowed. Mara gave a nervous laugh. “Okay, that’s enough spooky fortune telling for one day.”

I call out to Gabriel, who is currently checking over the injured, healing them as he goes. He and Ethan frantically rush over, helping us out of the cannon as I back away from the mist, beginning to escape out the top. “Wolfsbane,” I warn. Most of us have protective clothing, so it will slow the effects down. It’s why I hadn’t wanted to shift yet, as it would rip the fabric to pieces. They nod and we back up from the split earth, trying to find cover from the thick fog. I can’t see Sabastian, but from the way he the injured are vanishing before my eyes, I know he is moving them to safety. The gravity of the situation hits me like a ton of bricks and I worry that even with our weeks of prepa

sanity. What would happen from now on?

"His eyes… they’re… it can’t be!" I didn’t reply. I couldn't. The power was too immense, too overwhelming. It was a raging inferno, demanding release. An earth-shattering growl ripped from my throat, a sound that was not entirely wolf, not entirely human, but something far older, far more primal. The ground beneath our feet trembled. Loose stones skittered down the sides of the ruins. The very air seemed to crackle with energy.
