I glanced at the girl who had called me earlier—she was still standing at the door, her back turned, waiting silently.
“We have to go, Hank. The cab is waiting.”
He shook his head. “Tell the cab to leave. Hiro will come fetch me.” His voice was firm, authoritative. The girl immediately turned and walked away.
I looked at Hade again. He was burning with anger but restrained, unable to act on it. I shifted my gaze to Hank, who leaned on the table, picked up the brandy bottle, and drank.
“If I had been braver back then… I shouldn’t have sacrificed my brother for my freedom. I should’ve stayed, followed him. What kind of older brother am I?” I heard Hade hiss from the corner.
