I nodded politely, feeling nothing but calm. "How have you been?" I asked. He forced a bitter laugh. "Frankly, the company has been in decline since you left. I was demoted and now only manage a small department." I smiled faintly and said nothing more. After the reception, my technical director rushed over. "Rex, bad news.
