Chapter Two: SIGHTING Later that night, Rojean dolled up to go to a place that was both a nightclub and a bar that everyone was talking about. She was old enough, for sure, especially if she was going to get married soon. But she was never the kind of person to go out on the weekends, to a club or even a bar and always preferred the comfort of their apartment which Lucas didn’t mind at all even when he wanted to go out. It was a carnation flower, the lighter shade of red. "I was told that carnation flowers often symbolizes fascination and distinction. You know that I am endlessly fascinated by you. And yes, you are different, rare, and I am lucky that you are mine." Luciana watched him speechlessly, seemingly unable to react. He then picked up another flower and gave it to her. It was a violet flower.

As soon as Maria sighted the bouquet of pink carnation, she rushed towards it and held it to her nose, basking in the fragrance and admiring how beautiful it was. "You want this one?" Adrian asked and inhaled the fragrance. "Yes I do. The pink carnation represents a lot of things, particularly love and happiness, she'd really like it." She lectured and he nodded. He felt really strange shopping with Maria. He didn't understand what it was all about, but deep down he enjoyed being with her. She did everything effortlessly and was so concerned about his mother's preference. "Let's pay for this and get the other things. It's getting late already, aren't you hungry?" Caitlin laid a reassuring hand on her head, and Scarlet smiled back. As one song ended and another was beginning, Caitlin knew it was Scarlet’s cue. She gently prodded her. Scarlet regained her confidence, and began walking down the aisle. She reached over and grabbed flowers from the basket and threw them as she went. All the faces of the vampires lit up, as they watched her.

"Do you have any flowers that mean love?" Her eyes lit up at the question, making her nod eagerly as she darted off into the garden outside of her shop. Within seconds, she came back with an armful of white flowers with dashes of a light pink tint in the center. She happily explained, "These are carnations, which represent everlasting and unconditional love. They're actually my favorite, so I prefer not to give them away. But I'll make an exception for you because you are my most frequent customer, and I love hearing about your relationship with this little Jane of yours."

I don’t know why, but it just did. But then I lifted my hand to the flowers and touched my fingers to one of the petals of a vibrant red Carnation. Within a few seconds the Carnation wilted in front of my eyes and the vibrant red turned into a dull brick brown color. And I knew that that’s exactly what I’d do to Anaya if I even breathed the same air as her.

The sterile scent of antiseptic clung to the air as Scarlet walked down the dimly lit hospital corridor, her footsteps soft against the polished floor. She glanced at the bouquet of flowers in her hand, their bright colors a sharp contrast to the gray walls surrounding her. It was ironic—flowers were supposed to symbolize life, health, beauty—everything her mother, Mrs. Scott, had lost over the years. Her mother’s condition had worsened. The hole in her heart had grown more dangerous, leaving her frail, her body unable to cope with the stress of everyday life. And now, Scarlet’s visits to the hospital had become more frequent, more necessary, but always weighed down with guilt.

He relaxed and smiled. “The Damsel is always there to save Prince Charming from trouble. I can see my marks have faded. Maybe I should do something about that. Something better so that others will know you’re mine. Don’t you think that’s a better idea?” No way is this possible. I only bargained for Sebastian Drew, not him too.
