His fingers were quick, grabbing a glass tube filled with thick, muddy water.
“This,” he said, holding it up under the light, “is your poison.”
I narrowed my eyes. Murky. Thick. Floating dark specks. Something that didn't belong. Something that wasn't natural.
“What is it?”
The doctor sighed, rolling his shoulders. “It’s engineered.”
Silence.
A slow, sharp silence that turned into a blade pressing against my throat.
I sat up straighter, muscles locking up. “What did you say?”
“This isn’t a natural sickness, Alpha,” he repeated. “This is deliberate. Someone designed this to infect and kill.”
