It was the one thing she hadn't minded being oversized. Ashleigh scowled and drove to work. She had to rush if she wanted to get in a full hour. “Scott, please!” I yelled as I ran down the basement stairs rushing after him. The usual loud music of the Fight club blared through the speakers almost drowning out the cheering supporters. Scott didn’t even spare me a glance, holding on tightly to his gym bag as he pushed forward. He brushed past a stranger turning into a hallway. “Scott!” I pleaded. When he finally stopped turned around I skidded to a halt. I could see the anger and frustration on his face.

“I just needed something to eat.” Please. No fucking way he wanted food. He just needed his next hit. I rolled my eyes. “Good luck buddy.” At my taunting words, his fear shifted to a desperate defiance and he brandished a gun, waving it unsteadily in my direction. “I-I’ll shoot,” he threatened, his voice trembling as much as his hands. What a chicken shit. “You got a last request? Or are you ready to die now?” “I'm the one with the gun.” As though feeling the tension of being prey and me the predator, his gaze darted between the mouth of the alley and me, biting his lip until it was bright red.

I paused, “…you will stop me immediately even if physical restraint becomes necessary. No matter what it takes.” “Understood.” Silence returned again, but it did not last long. The clock suddenly chimed once, a sharp sound echoing through the study, then again, then again. A massive wave of dark energy exploded violently through my veins, and my entire body locked in place as pain erupted everywhere at once. Every muscle convulsed beneath my skin, and another growl escaped my throat, except this time it no longer sounded part human. It sounded fully monstrous. My vision flashed amber, then darker, then brighter again as my beast roared.

All four guards charged me at once inside the record room. Two grabbed my arms, twisted them behind my back, and slammed me against the wall. "Stop moving, or I'll kill you!" Their hands clamped around my wrists and wrenched my arms higher. My wrists started bleeding, and my joints hurt from being squeezed as they almost popped. I fought back as best I could and drove my heel down on one guard's toes. "Get off me! You're helping them commit a crime!"

“Fight back!” Scott shrugged. “Well… if you insist.” He snapped his fingers. A cup of iced coffee from a girl standing nearby shuddered, lifted into the air, then splashed entirely onto Drazhan’s face. The hallway exploded into laughter. Drazhan stood dripping, shaking with fury. “You—” he growled. Scott raised a hand. “Relax. I’m only using water today. It’s my weakest element. Trying not to kill you.” “Kill me?!” Drazhan roared.

He throws himself towards me, eager to trap me beneath his weight, but I bring my knees to my chest and place my feet against his shoulders before thrusting outward, and Sage, off of me.
