I pulled the scissors out and watched the blood well up, dark and red against her pale skin. Then I thrust them in again, in a different spot.
Her blood splattered across my face, warm and wet. I let go of her hair and used my finger to wipe some of it off my cheek. Then, with deliberate care, I smeared it across her lips like lipstick.
“You look perfect now,” I said, studying my work. “Like a Bloody Mary.”
“Please, miss,” she whispered, barely conscious. “Please...”
