Just the shrill itself was enough to send someone into a state of fright. The screeching sound came from the approaching flock of Harpies. It pierces right through one's ear, threatening to damage their eardrums. The raucous, hell-raising voices of the Harpies continues to attack their psyche as it carries despair and slough of despond as they flew nearer to the ship.

I looked Ryker’s way, thinking it might be some animal native to Lunar Isle, but he seemed just as confused as I was. “What on fucking earth is that?” I tilted my head. The sound was familiar. “Does that sound like a crying baby to you?” “Crying? More like screaming for its life.” Something odd happened then. The sound rippled and branched off like the different avenues of a stream. The cries began to overlap with slight, almost miniscule, differences. “Whatever it is, it’s not a single one of them. It’s a bunch. Can you hear it? They’re all screaming.”

A drop of tear trickled down my cheek. “Ahhh!” Few seconds following their exit, came a deafening scream.

With a shriek akin to a screech owl, Luca suddenly grabsbed his eyes, and fell to the floor… “The sun,” his screams could be heard all over the house.

Now get moving! The sheer determination in her voice makes me think she might have finally been on my side but of course she goes back to the demanding cold voice. And then I heard it. A sharp screech. “AAHHH!!!” My eyes jerked up. “Miley, what the hell!! Why did you push me?!”

It was looking around, and folds of flesh parted on its body to reveal hundreds of red-rimmed eyes. “I see you, witch,” it said then gave a series of high-pitched, ear-piercing squeals that Ilyria eventually realized was its laughter. Ilyria heard the unmistakeable sound of Madame Skia’s scream and in response her sirens took up their song once more. It was a deafening cacophony, an aural attack. If we are the only ones who can free it, we are also the only ones who can keep it there, she thought.

The screeching sound that had jolted her awake once again as she was slipping into unconsciousness and then waking up. The painful screeching sound lingered in her ears, a haunting echo of the terror she had experienced. Her vision was strongly blurred, and her head throbbed with pain. It was as if her senses had been overwhelmed, but her heart was beating the heaviest and the loudest, which was leaving her completely disoriented and confused. Her ears hurt. They hurt a lot.
