Kael approached cautiously. “This is it.” Lyra’s pulse quickened. “Then the truth lies inside.” Together, they pushed the lid open. A burst of cold mist rose from within, swirling around them. The inside wasn’t filled with bones but with a book. Its cover was made of leather blackened by time, its spine etched in silver glyphs that pulsed faintly at Lyra’s touch. Kael stared. “That’s no ordinary relic.” Lyra lifted it carefully. The air seemed to hum, like the world itself recognized what she held. “It’s… alive.”

The Gifted Hybrid. I was stunned at the title. It took my interest. I tried to flip the cover of the book but it won't open. I frowned when I saw something surround the book. Like there was a spell covering it. I put the book down on my bed when I saw something left inside the black box. There was a big gold anchor/ship wheel necklace that just fit my hands. It glowed when in contact with my hands. I feel like the necklace is mine because the scythe was also glowing. I took the scythe and looked as it shines so bright. I let out a gasp when the scythe transformed into a round object. Then I noticed the cover of the book, it has a hole round shape in it and an anchor then ship wheel in it.

I was about to give up when my fingers brushed against something different. It was massive, bound in what looked like black, flayed skin, and heavy enough to make my muscles strain as I pulled it from its slot. It landed on the reading table with a heavy thud that sent a cloud of dust into the air. I wiped the grime from the cover, my breath catching in my throat. The title was embossed in faded silver script: Vampiric Death and Rebirth.

The clasp seems to demand a blood pact to be opened, with a small blade embedded, ready to make the necessary cut.
