The entire place was one room, six paces wide and ten paces long, furnished with simple, handmade wooden furniture. A rectangular dining table with a split log bench on either side filled most of one end of the cabin, and a buckskin sleeping mat stuffed with straw lay upon the plank floor at the other end. In the middle of the room lay a brown bearskin rug so old the fur had worn away down to the skin in several places. Naturally, there was no television, radio or refrigerator anywhere to be seen.

His small room at the nightclub was holding more and more appeal. He descended the stairs that led to the great room. His home was not as large as other territory rulers, but it suited him. I nod, about to ask another question when we turn towards a large, single-story cabin. It's about three times the size of Hendrick's with two chimneys. The garden surrounding the larger cabin is also much bigger than the other cabins we have passed. I note that they're mostly herbs, grown haphazardly and overgrowing.
