That is if the elevator ride was going to end one day. She let out a huge sigh of relief when the doors opened with a ding, then she rushed out and went towards the interview rooms. Before she could make another step forward, Adams emerged from one of the makeup rooms and Ana didn’t have to ask to know he was stressed out. The expression on his face grew a little relaxed when he saw her but it didn’t last long. The man started talking in this stage whisper which Ana found ridiculous because everyone around them could hear what he was saying very clearly. "Ana, how the fuck did you leave me hanging like that? Do you know how unprofessional it will make us look?" he scolded.

With that, I slid my hand into the crook of Nelson's arm and turned to leave. "Josie, you can't go!" Shawn scrambled to his feet and lunged toward us. Nelson's eyes went cold as he stepped between us smoothly, cutting Shawn off completely. "Mr. Lowell. I assume dragging Lowell Group back from the brink of bankruptcy cost you five years of blood, sweat, and tears?" His voice dropped to a low, lethal murmur only the three of us could hear.

Although Shannon had been hypnotized and had an inaccurate memory, she had not lost her ability to think. She was now certain that he already knew about the pill in the glass of water. I was dazed for a second, hardly believing what I was hearing. Charles did not say anything more. Instead, he snuck up behind me and gave me a little shove. I tripped forward, and the camera flashes were so bright that I could not open my eyes. A sharp pain zipped through my belly, and I felt something warm spreading underneath me. When I looked down, I saw my pants were all wet with blood. Everything around me started to fade to black. Right before I passed out, I heard Charles say with a sneer, "Not this again. Always playing the same old fainting game."
