Where she thought she could go, she didn’t know, but she knew she couldn’t stand to be near a mirror nor in that room for another minute.

"Yes, she did. She told me a lot about your so-called 'heroic deeds,' like how you often go out with different men and only come home after a few days, always looking exhausted, as if you've been completely drained..." Serena let out a playful laugh and placed her hand on his thigh. Damien glanced at her. "I'm driving.” Serena smiled and said, "You, of all people, should know whether I'm being drained or not. How about we test it out and see who drains whom first?" Every time Serena went out, it was to design clothing for an overseas studio. She never expected that her frequent absences would lead Katrina to assume she was fooling around and getting drained.

“This is real.” Lucien looked up at last. The laptop was already open. “You don’t have to watch it now.” “Yes,” Lucien said. “I do.” The first video began without ceremony. A white room. A steel chair bolted to the floor. Two women in gray uniforms. Serena in the middle of them, wrists strapped down, face bloodless, eyes open too wide. Lucien stopped breathing. One of the women off camera said, “Begin again.” Serena obeyed at once.

Daniel stepped forward and placed the tablet on the desk, turning the screen toward him before stepping back slightly. The footage played without sound. Serena walked out of the building, her posture straight, her expression unreadable, her movements controlled in a way that suggested far more composure than anyone in her position should have had. For a moment, nothing seemed unusual. Then the car appeared. A black car, sleek and deliberate, pulls up directly in front of her. Damian’s eyes narrowed slightly. The footage continued. The window rolled down. She hesitated. Spoke. Paused again. And then, without resistance, she stepped forward and got in.

“Come on, baby. We're here for you.” Serena opened her eyes slowly, and let out a little moan, trying to sit. The men caressed her, and I could see her shudder. Her eyes flew wide, and she began to jerk crazily. I smirked, moving to hide behind the drapes, where I could watch, and laugh, and make videos. “Let the fun get started. Let me make my videos, girl.” I said, in excitement, laughing to myself. “Who are you!? Get off me! Get off me. Stop this insanity. Ah!” Serena screamed, her eyes wide in fear.

Then, another buzz. Savannah. I almost toss the phone across the room, but the preview catches my eye. Looks like she’s so heartbroken. Enjoy the show. [Live Feed: Club Obsidian] I tap the link. The video opens on low, violet lights and pulsing bass. Then the camera tilts— And there she is. Serena. Spinning in a dress I’ve never seen before. Low cut, backless, short. Hugging her curves like a second skin.

The only answer was the soft click of the door in the footage—Serena walking out, suitcase in hand. Then his phone buzzed. A message lit up the screen: [I found where Serena is.]

He nodded, knowing I was trying not to tell him the full details. " What about you Harry? How is Serena? Oof." That was an interesting topic. I remembered when he and Serena were always tugging around each other, trying to make me jealous. Their love was strong and it was the type that one would always pray to have. But Harrison's face was giving a negative expression. " Serena is fine. Remember she became an actress so she's down in California…probably 'acting'." His expression was down. I knew when something was wrong with Harrison.

It was that black-and-white French film Evie loved. The one with subtitles. Serena’s eyes were fixed on the screen. A single tear traced down her cheek. She didn’t wipe it away. “This was her favourite, wasn’t it?” she said softly, not looking at me. I didn’t answer. “I wanted to watch it,” she whispered. “I wanted to understand what she liked. What made her special to you?” Finally, she turned her head. Her eyes were huge and wet. “I can see you miss her. Even though you try to hide it.”
