Serena demanded as we all got into the car. "That's not what he said," Lena sighed rolling her eyes. "I'm the Princess, not her," Serena spat. "And she's his mate, not you. It's Maddox's money we're spending not Casper's." "Whatever," Serena said, crossing her arms again and turning her head to the window. Lena shook her head. I watched Serena's reflection in the car window, blurred by the trees and buildings rushing by outside the car. She rubbed her eye with her fist, tensing her jaw.

Her voice was hoarse, “thank you!” "Drink water. Then tell me what happened to you. I will help you to the best of my ability.” I say. Serena tried to take a small sip of water and then said to me, "Jack wants me to come to his room tonight..." Serena's hands clasped the glass of water; its surface fluctuated non-stop as if it wanted to pour out. I quickly took the glass of water out of her hand. Suddenly, Serena gripped my hand and begged, “Can you help me? I don't want to go to Jack's room. I don't want to be raped by him again… I'm scared… he's a demon… I don't want… In a few years, I'll be out of here. I don't want to get dirty again….”

“Lila, are you fine? What are you doing?” Serena dropped the knife into the sink with a clatter and quickly hid her arm, refusing to turn around. “Get the fuck out of here.” The voice persisted. “No.” “Damian, get the fuck out of there!” she snapped. “It’s not Damian.” Serena paused, her body going rigid. Slowly, she turned around as their eyes met.

Not hiding, not shaking, not faking bravery. Serena never fakes. She was wearing riding leathers. Her hair was pinned tight. Her hands were out where I could see them. She did not have a sword. That’s okay. Serena never needed a blade to kill you. For a second, we just looked at each other, measured and weighed each other. Serena was prettier than I remembered. She was not soft. She was not kind. She was just polished, like glass. There were no cracks. Her stance was perfect.

And now marked. Serena was stuck in a life-threatening dilemma. Now Serena must choose: stay loyal to a country that betrayed her, or stand beside the man she was sent to destroy —a man she had long and irrevocably fallen for.

“Sebastian won’t come back without the killer of his father and sister. He intends to kill me slowly. He wants me to witness the union between him and the girl who brought ruin upon my family.” Just as she was about to stumble over a broken piece of glass, the maid quickly came to her aid. “But he doesn’t know the real me. I will never accept the girl. I will kill her. I will squeeze the life out of her,” Serena was fuming with anger. “Medusa, arrange for my ticket to New York.” “But…” The maid opened her mouth. “Follow my instructions and keep it confidential, or you’ll be the first one to meet my wrath.”

Serena winced, kicking Logan hard on the chest and causing him to fall back. “Are you stupid? Be gentle!” She snapped at him as he treated her wound. “I’m sorry.” He continued. Serena was seething with rage. Her face still red from both anger and the effect of the slap. “Arabella. ARABELLA. ARAbella.” Serena called, her chest rising and falling fast, “I failed to kill you once. I won't fail again.” Just then her phone pinged by her side. A notification from the SEC.

Just as I was about to burst through the main doors, Serena’s inner thoughts suddenly echoed in my ears. She was nearby. Serena thought to herself, “That idiot Hill definitely doesn’t know that the back mountain is just a decoy. I already had Owen tied up at the abandoned chemical plant nearby. When the time comes, I’ll make sure both of them burn to ashes in a roaring fire!” My footsteps came to a sudden, violent halt as the realization washed over me.

“That’s totally fine, my dear... I know you have problems at home...” Serena didn’t say anything. But the way she looked... I hadn’t seen her this helpless even when she crashed into me in that hotel corridor... “But how did you come today with Adrian?” Ms. Maria suddenly asked with confusion. “I work for him,” Serena said softly. “In his company...” she added as her gaze shifted briefly toward me. I slowly walked closer. A faint idea had already started forming inside my mind about what was happening here, but honestly, it wasn’t the outcome I had ever expected.

I whispered to the empty room, flicking the ash onto the glass surface. If Julian fully remembered everything–if the fog in his mind cleared up and he realized the woman he was currently screwing around with behind Serena’s back was the exact same girl who had turned his world upside down–we were all dead. He wouldn't just stop the money transfers. He would hunt us down and skin us alive. The door to the suite burst open, cutting through my thoughts. Serena walked in, looking every bit the pampered queen she desperately wanted to be. She was draped in a designer coat, her diamond ring catching the light, but the tight lines around her mouth gave away her nerves. She slammed her expensive han
