Apparently, there were four Shade packs in the area—the Blackmoor Shade Pack, Night Shade Pack, South Shade Pack, and the Thornton Shade Pack. Each pack had their own family color of some sort. The Blackmoors were purple, Souths yellow, Thorntons blue, and the Nights green.

Just at the rims. Like his eyes are filling with blood. Lucian stumbles backward. Lyra catches his arm, steadying him. "What's wrong?" Lyra asks. Lucian looks at the shield again. Silver eyes. Normal. The red is gone. But it was there. He saw it. The shadow-blood is waking. Lucian's reflection in the seer's glass shows eyes rimmed crimson.

I try to exit the darkness but there’s an invisible barrier preventing us from returning to my body. ‘Shadows, I call to you. Let me go back to my living body’. ‘There is a price that must be paid for safe passage’, a shaky voice tells me. How the hell can shadows talk? ‘Do not question the how. Are you prepared to pay?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘What do you offer?’ ‘You demand blood payments, yes?’ This is what Jasper is going to use to overcome Richard in the shadow world. ‘I offer you a pint of my blood now, and once I am healed, I will give you a further pint’. I tell the shadows.

Nothing else in my room is disturbed. I pick it up between my fingers, turning it in the light. The leaf catches the glow of the candles, looking almost like it’s pulsing—alive. I let the weight sink into my hands, let it pull up the part of me I keep under lock an key. The color reminds me of the Nightshade forests to the north—where the old bloodlines used to dwell before Camille’s rise. Those forests are forbidden now. Cursed, they say. But I know better than to dismiss things as a coincidence..

They could also sense the lingering presence of a vampire in the room. "There's something wrong with this room." Alex whispered to Victoria. "I know. This is no ordinary murder. This is the work of a vampire." Victoria whispered back. "Do you think so too?" asked Alex in surprise. "Hmm... something like that. Look at these bloody sheets. That's not human blood. It's vampire blood." Victoria said softly as she pointed to the sheets on the bed. Alex looked at the sheet carefully. He noticed that the colour of the blood was darker and thicker than human blood. He also saw black spots around the blood.

The blood starts pouring out of my mouth uncontrollably, I cough while splashes of blood defile the ground under me. “Don't be scared, I'm not going to hurt you”, the shade rubs the back of its hand down my cheek, “I'm just going to drain your body of its worthless life”. The shadow figure laughed maniacally in my face. I sense the thirst for blood and the hatred towards me. I start to turn to run, but my body immediately falls limp. I start to military crawl, dragging my legs across the floor.

Weird. As far as Ash could remember, there were no shades of white on the night of their fight. Everything was covered with darkness, deep crimson coming from the large amount of blood that had been spilled on the ship, and the deep orange hue that symbolized the true terror of the Black Wolf plan. It was— Ash eyes widened as if the fog had been lifted and suddenly, all he could see was the scene that made his blood run cold, and the terror and fear shook him through his core.

He looked up at the Elders, spreading his hands wide. "Do you hear him? He speaks of 'laws' while he harbors a parasite. The Bloodshade line was once the most prestigious bloodline in this region. It was pure. It was strong. And now? It is being stained by the very rot that tried to extinguish it fifteen years ago."

"They were necessary sacrifices to make sure I survived! I am the identity! I am the purpose!" "You're the shadow!" I slammed her head against the white floor, the concrete cracking beneath us. "I am the one who loved the Alpha! I am the one who carries the future! You want the 'Extinction' back? Come and take it from the teeth!" As our souls clashed in the center of the courtyard, the white light of the sky began to bleed. Not silver, not violet—but a deep, rich Obsidian-Red. Through the fracture we had torn in the compiler, a shadow began to rise. It wasn't a ship. It wasn't a drone.

The crowd gasped, their fear forgotten for a moment, replaced by wonder. I filled a sprayer, misting the Potion gently over the Bloodshade’s wide branches. The butterflies followed, settling on the leaves and bark, their bodies dusted with my Potion’s glow. With each beat of their wings, tiny flecks of silver and red caught the light, scattering sparks of color through the deepening dusk. The Bloodshade didn’t bloom... but it glowed. Oh, how it glowed. The tree seemed draped in living jewels, its every inch alive with motion and light.
