Chapter 23: Shadows of the Past In the midst of the seemingly tranquil days, shadows of the past stirred, casting doubt on the fragile equilibrium Adrian and Seraphina had fought so hard to establish. They both kept quiet as the slender man maneuvered the car out of the secret chamber. I felt like it’s better for us to close our mouth to kill the worries building up in our chest. The thick iron wall rose. The slender man used this exit to reach the very long, straight driveway. I looked back at the chamber as the thick wall closed on its own.
