It didn’t take long before the gabled rooftops of Shady Oak proper rose to cast a whimsical silhouette against the stary backdrop of the night sky. Ava expected Aiden to stop at some point so that they could put together a game plan on how to best find Marnie, but to her surprise, he kept going until finally coming to a stop in front of a large Victorian home. It was beautiful and stately, just like the many of the decades-old homes that made Shady Oak the quaint old-world retreat that it was. It was pleasantly secluded, taking up a large corner lot that was surrounded on all sides by trees.

"I can finally go for a walk after a whole month of fruitless busyness," Sharlynn muttered as she looked around. The first floor of the modern concept mall was filled with clothing and bag boutiques, ranging from the standard to the million-dollar high-end. "Don't overdo it, I've never forbidden you to go to the mall," Richie scolded, making Sharlynn frown. Feeling ignored, Richie stood very close to the woman, causing Sharlynn to lift her face slightly. She was a little surprised by Richie's look. "Why are you sulking? Where's that smile you gave Dante at the dinner table?"

Cleo was already walking in the direction of the clothes store, pausing momentarily to wave me over. It was then I realized that Shane had left my side, disappearing into the crowd of people. She couldn't believe her eyes as she realized that the shopping mall was owned by her ex-husband, Marcellus Huxley. I somehow found myself reading back this book to try and get myself back into the story to get the motivation to write more of the sequel and it was shocking how many times I cringed reading this book back! I do forget that I finished Shy when I was 16 years old. Six years on, I think it's finally time to rewrite and update this book so I can read it without cringing so horribly at 16 year old me. I hope by rewriting this it will get me back into the story and I can continue to write more updates for Defeated. In the meantime, enjoy the rewritten version of Shy called 'Shy (Rewritten)'! It will be updated bit by bit and will not be uploaded all at once! But I hope you like it!
