Amelia winks and replies, “Don’t tempt fate.” “Did you really not know about this?” Tasha asks, adjusting her sash. “I swear I did not know! I was completely gobsmacked,” I say, laughing. “Gobsmacked?” Jenna repeats. “It means I was utterly speechless. Completely flabbergasted, darling.” I slip into a mock British accent. “Flabber-what?” Amelia cackles. “You sound like the queen!” “She’s the queen tonight!” Brianna declares, raising her plastic champagne flute. “To our bride!”

The second Thursday, she stayed for forty-seven minutes. They did not talk about Vanessa. They did not talk about the past. They talked about a book. The Remains of the Day, which she had been rereading because it was the only novel she had brought with her from London. He had read it. He had hated the ending. She had loved the ending. They argued about it for forty minutes, and by the time dessert came, she was laughing once. Not a real laugh. A half one. But it escaped her mouth before she could stop it, and Damien looked at her like a man watching the sunrise after a long night.

There was also some other things with funny shapes ones I didn't even want to know where they went. I held the golden balls in my hand and wondered what they were for. Some of the things in here I have seen at th club and the others where just a mystery to me, I saw things I didn't even know existed. There was other things on the shelf below but I had seen enough. There was also a bookshelf with actual books in them. I took the first book I saw and read out the title, it was a book by Shayla Black called Wicked Ties. I had never even heard of the author. My phone vibrated in my pickets, I saw that it was Bradley.

The librarian didn’t fall so much as… come unbound. Once the lockbook was out of its chest, its whole body lost the logic that had been holding it together. Volumes that had been ribs and limbs and vertebrae a heartbeat earlier juddered, then shook loose, tumbling in awkward cascades.

But when I see the title of the first book on top, I gasp and rush towards it. Absent-mindedly, I sit on the chair and bring it closer to the desk. My hands shake. Why do they shake? I pick the book which makes a bubble of emotions burst in me. "Gone with the wind." by Margaret Mitchell stares right back at me in its red hardcover beauty. My fingers trail each letter of the title as I stare in amazement. I open the book and a note falls from it to the table.

“What the bloody hell is that?” I moved away from Ryker, my eyes were solely fixated on the book. Wiping away the shattered glasses, I did not care if it would hurt me. Once it was clean, I read the book to Ryker. “It is the Book of The Damned.” All I wanted was to get a hold of that book and satisfy my curiosity but when I did, I could feel the power surging from the book, my hands were painfully attached to it. Then the book opened, forcing my palm to hold it up the pages started to flip rapidly. So many images flashed through my mind but none of which I recalled. The book slammed shut and I blinked. I turned to Ryker and swallowed before finding my voice to speak, “Did you see that?”

The closer I peek at the book, the more I see the bold title. “The tighter the pussy, the greater the bliss: a dick’s way to wet land.” It has the drawing of a monster cock in front of it, curved in the shape of a banana. My body’s already hot as I reach for the book. However, the moment my hand lands on it, something like a machine chimes. It's only then that I realize this isn’t a book. It’s a panel designed as a book. My heart thumps as a distinct groan echoes in the study, startling me.

It brushes the back of my neck and I can feel him right beside me, close enough that his scent wraps around me. My stomach knots. I keep my eyes on the shelves, forcing myself to focus on the rows of titles instead of the way my pulse won’t stop racing. I scan the books until one catches my eye. The title almost makes me laugh, ‘Screwed Up? Here’s Your Reset Button.’ How fitting. I bite the inside of my cheek to keep from snickering and grab the book fast. “I think I see another one,” he utters, his voice dipping a little lower now. “Up top.”

she gives me a warm smile and just shakes her head before she nods and turns back to placing the books on the shelves. I quickly come across a book on bonds, but it takes me ages to find one about demons. I search through every book and shelf until, finally, at the very top, I spot a small, extremely dusty book. Although it doesn’t explicitly say “demons,” its title, “Monsters of Our World,” is the closest I can find.

She thought maybe she could see some things that could break the bond. She walked to the shelves and searched around for any books that involved werewolves. She picked up a book from the shelf. The book had a picture of a black wolf in front of the title. "Werewolves rule." She remembered that she had seen the book before. The book was for anyone who had just transformed for the first time. It was for the new wolves to know and follow certain rules. "Maybe it might have something to do with how to break it." She said , flipping the book. It was a book with a lot of tiny writing. She flipped it for some time, until she got bored. She was about to drop it when something caught her attention.
