Jaxon's POV Melanie and Ameer stand up and walk down the aisle to the front of the pack. They both kneel in before me, showing their allegiance. I place a hand on her shoulder, trying to ignore the sparks dancing along my fingertips. “I appoint you, Melanie Stokes, as the Beta of the Nightshade Shadows.” Her expression is neutral, but I catch a glint of pride as she blinks back the tears forming in her eyes. We’re going to go to Denver to join the fight. I assume the older alphas will probably sit this one out, but Gray, Reid, and I are all going, as well as our friends Jax and Theo- the sons of Alpha Damian and Alpha Anders, respectively. The five of us young alphas run the six-pack’s security squad, a group of skilled fighters trained to protect our territory. We’ll be bringing the squad to Denver with us, as long as they’re willing, and hopefully with the combination of our ranks, we’ll be able to take out the shadow pack once and for all.

Alpha Kaelion smiled and shook his head with amusement, while the other two men frowned in visible irritation. “Jenna, this is Darion, my beta,” Kaelion introduced, nodding toward the man on his left. Darion looked every bit as dangerous as his energy suggested, his skin a shade darker than Alpha Kaelion’s, a full beard framing his hardened face, and longer dark hair tied back. “And this is Derrick,” he added. Her eyes flicked to the other man, who appeared younger and wore an easy, slightly cocky smile. His black hair was perfectly styled, and the way his green eyes sparkled made it obvious he was used to attention.

Sarah whispers to me as I kiss her forehead and wait for the next update. “Beta Sam is down, Gamma. He tried to catch the SUV, but was tossed from the vehicle,” my head warrior advises. “We have lost the Luna,” the warrior replies dejectedly. It is a blow to all of us. Now I can only hope Miranda can help where we could not. “Get the Beta to the Pack house immediately,” I reply coldly as I contemplate what to do next.
