Shattered promises
Evidence of a dying empire trying to resurrect itself through intimidation.
Then she did something that surprised even herself. She smiled — small, defiant.
Because the threat meant they were afraid.
And fear, she knew now, was the first crack in any empire.
Outside, thunder rolled in the distance, rain beginning to fall. The city glistened under streetlights, restless and alive.
She turned off the lights, locked the door, and whispered to the empty room —
“You can try to rewrite history. But I’ve already started the next chapter.”
The sound of rain swallowed her words, carrying them into the night — a quiet promise, and a warning.
