he murmured, his gaze fixed on hers.
Before she could react, his hand closed around her arm, pulling her up so their faces were inches apart. His height towered over her. One hand slid to her waist, pulling her against him, while the other traced the wet line of tears down her cheek.
“You’re mine,” he said quietly, the words laced with danger. “My property.”
Her breath caught. “I’m not property. I deserve to be loved—truly loved—by someone.”
His jaw tightened, eyes darkening. Then, a slow smirk. “We both know the truth.”
