CRAVING THE BAD BOY
she said slowly, "you don’t get to question me like that."
"What?"
"You heard me."
I blinked. "Since when?"
"Since always," she said.
I let out a short, disbelieving laugh. "This is new."
"No," she said. "this is just me saying it now."
I didn’t know what to say to that. Because nothing I said was working. Nothing was landing. Nothing was the same. "I don’t like this," I said again.
"I know."
"Then why are you doing it?"
She didn’t answer immediately. Then she said, "Because I can."
