Was anyone looking for her? What a strange thought. She'd been kidnapped and she was currently in the bed of her kidnapper. He was a cop, but it was weird to think about it that way. The phone stopped ringing--apparently going to voicemail. Then, it started ringing again. She debated about whether or not to answer it. Was it Gavin's phone or had he left it for her. She picked it up and examined it. A basic "burner style" non-descript black phone.

When someone answered, she whispered only one thing— “I’ve been kidnapped.” Then she hung up. Unfortunately, the man on the other end—a colleague—was half-drunk at a bar. He frowned, mumbled something incoherent, then tossed the phone aside and poured himself another drink. When the kidnappers realized Marilyn hadn’t done what they told her, the leader’s boot slammed into her ribs. She doubled over, gasping. “Are you screwing with us?” he snarled. One of the men lunged forward, fingers tearing at her blouse. Before he could go further, the leader—Charlie Weyner—snatched the phone from her hands and began to dial.

I used my hands to dab across my body to find where I put my phone as I recognized that sound. It was my ringtone. I pulled out my phone, answering the call without even having to look at the screen to know it was one of the men. “Ma'am, we kidnapped the ex-wife. She tried escaping,” he said from the other end of the phone. "Who exactly are these people you're talking about?” I spat, clenching my fist. I just hoped it wasn't what I thought. “Mr. Damon's ex-wife of course. Have you forgotten? Oh, I understand now, we're sorry we didn't let her die in the building just like you commanded, but she tried to escape and we obviously couldn't throw her back in.”

He received a phone call from the unregistered number. He clenched as he was expecting that this would be the kidnappers who took their son. David pressed the green button to answer the call. But he did not speak. Instead, he waited for the caller to speak first. “David Cruz, I know you are listening. I have your son. If you want to take him back, bring Mariane with you. Just the two of you.” David gnashed his teeth. “Who the hell are you? And do you think I will bring her to you?! You’re crazy!” David exclaimed.

KINLEY Gianni pulled me against his body, his grip on my hair tightening. My body betrayed my brain as I melted into his embrace. I moaned into him, my arms reaching around his neck. Suddenly the ringing of his phone distracted us. As he went to retrieve it from his jacket pocket, I was able to come to my senses. I reminded myself that this man had kidnapped me and held me captive, this was so far from healthy. His brow furrowed as he answered the call, "What do you want, Talon?"

My phone buzzed in my hand. Unknown caller. My pulse quickened. It had to be them. I rushed back to the room, pushing the door open as Amelia turned to look at me. “It’s the kidnapper,” I mouthed, and her eyes widened as she stood up and rushed to me. I didn't know what the endgame of what this kidnapper was trying to play at was or why he or she wanted Maya and me to get a divorce, but all I knew was that the kidnapper made a mistake by calling. Because I had someone who could track even a burner phone. I smirked even though the others were panicking. “Who was that on the phone?” Anna asked, but they were all tongue-tied. “It was the person who had Jaden and Janelle in their custody. I didn't want Wolfe to suspect me. "Kaya!" he growled. He could also sense it if I felt anxious. Another number called me and this time it was the kidnapper, from a different caller ID. "I gotta go, Wolfe. I hope you catch your killer!" I hung up on Wolfe and answered the kidnapper's call. "I have the money." "Good boy." He chuckled and it made me shiver. "Go to the school. Every second seems to be like endless darkness. Beep! Beep! Beep! Finally, Evan’s phone rang. Evan held his breath and quickly picked up the call. “Hello!” On the other end of the phone, a distorted voice from a voice changer said, “Hello, there Mr. Carter!” Evan’s POV: I gasped. This voice was very familiar to me. Just like the kidnapper who kidnapped Princess Martha before, it was the same kind of voice changer. “Who are you exactly?” “Do you have my daughter?”
