He hangs my shoe over one finger and dangles it in front of me. “I'll trade it for a dance.” He offers. “You're ridiculous.” I counter. He just shrugs at me again. I try to take a step forward but stumble. I slip my other shoe off and hold it in one hand. I step forwards again and attempt to snatch my other shoe back from Bellamy. He holds it up above my head and he's too tall for me to reclaim it. I refuse to make a fool of myself trying to get my shoe back so I just glare at him, my arms crossed over my chest. He raises an eyebrow at me.

They even made fun of her for it. "What kind of shoes cost fifty thousand dollars?" When Mya heard a voice at the door, she looked up and saw Madelyn. A big smile appeared on her face. "Madelyn!" Madelyn had heard their conversation from next door. She came over and looked at the fancy shoes. They were a special edition, and there were only five pairs like them in the whole world. But Madelyn knew these shoes were not real. She had all five real pairs in her closet at home and had not worn them because they cost so much. But they did not cost fifty thousand dollars. That was just too much.

At other times, it shrank back. Terrified, I did not even dare to breathe out loud. I could only watch as the shadow moved to my room. Suddenly, all of the sounds faded away. The shadow disappeared, and I could not hear the scratching sounds either. But the strewn shoes and the strange marks on the floor served as a stark reminder that I was not dreaming. Suddenly, Yvonne’s door opened. When she walked out and saw the shoes on the floor, her face turned pale. “Did you see it?” she asked me with a quivering voice.

A black six-inch heel, its strap made of two rows of three large, fancy glittering stones, flexibly connected. I put it on, and Mich made me do a back and forth walk round the room. I don't know why, but my feet felt wobbly all because everyone's eyes was centered on me. I badly needed my confidence. So I decided to do the model thing. Head up, eyes straight, shoulders firm and… my legs suddenly crooked sideways and as I bumped into a machine blindly. My ankle did not only hurt. The shoe spoilt too.

Yet as she spotted Nick chatting away on his mobile at the front of the shop, she forced herself to do as he had told her. Millie drifted over to an unusual shoe display. These had high thin needle-like heels in a rainbow of colours, some with spikes adorning the front. They looked dangerous; which she supposed had been the designer’s intention. She didn’t think they were her type of thing, and she would prefer something more elegnt and with a heel which would tempt her to use as a murder weapon. She knew the twins had shoes like these and it would be a lie to say she had not thought of sticking the heel in Ruby’s eye.
