I clenched my teeth to conceal my reaction to his identity. The fact that I was speaking to the second most powerful man in the Werewolf Realm sent shivers down my spine. Everything suddenly felt surreal in the moment, cementing the fact that I had somehow ended up as the Alpha King's mate.

My heart was pounding so hard against my ribs that I truly thought everyone in the room could hear it. The old Alpha King stepped forward to the edge of the platform. His voice boomed over the crowd, demanding attention. “Today,” he announced to the room, “I am officially stepping down from the throne. I have led this pack for many years, but it is time for new blood. From this night onward, my son, Desmond, will rule as your new Alpha King!” The hall exploded with loud cheers. The sound of applause thundered through the room, shaking the very air. You could feel the pride, the joy, and the excitement coming from every corner of the palace. It was a beautiful sight.
