“You know, Ruby, we learned a joke yesterday. Want to hear it?” I nod eagerly, intrigued by the joke that has captured their attention. “Alright,” Ethan begins, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Why don’t grumpy people like corn on the cob?” Playing along, I pretend to ponder the question. “Hmm, I’m not sure. Why don’t they?” “Because they think it’s ‘a-maize-ing’ that anyone could be happy!” Ethan bursts into laughter, and soon, the infectious giggles spread throughout the room.

he joked, scrolling through the channels until he found a comedy show. We settled on the couch, the room dim except for the warm glow of the lamp beside us. It was easy being with him always felt easy. No pressure, no tension. Just comfort. He began telling me a ridiculous story from the station; a cameraman chasing away a seagull that kept landing on a prop during a live shoot and I burst out laughing. “No! You’re lying!” “I swear! Ask Emmett,” he insisted, laughing with me. “The bird was determined to be a star.”

The diner booth slowly filled with relaxed energy as everyone ate. Full stomachs and sweet milkshakes had the team loosening up fast. Laughter rolled across the table, the earlier practice tension melting away with every bite of greasy, comforting food. The guys were happy, trading jokes and reliving past events. Jamal told a ridiculous story about his missed shot in the first quarter, exaggerating how the ball had bounced off three rims before going in. Tyler jumped in with his own version of the fast break, adding dramatic sound effects that had the whole table cracking up.

“I once tripped walking into a conference hall. In front of investors. Once though.” He laughed, the sound warm and genuine. “And did you recover?” “I pretended it was intentional.” “Of course you did.” Their laughter came easier than she expected. Effortless. Not forced. Not strategic. She told him about a disastrous attempt at cooking local food during one of her business trips. He countered with a story about mistaking a spicy pepper for something mild and paying for it dramatically. “You cried?” she teased. “Briefly,” he said with mock dignity. “But only internally.”

And so, on and on ,like the osscilation of a pendulum, the disheartening piece of my bio churned while the sands of time dripped slowly and slowly as it watched my narration irks the soul of the spectators. That I thought, but it appeared to be nothing but a blunt lie. It was a revolving piece of gags and laughs. A piece of funny cake, a chunk of interesting cheese, a loaf of an adventurous bread and a real ginger to the spirits of the audience. They applauded.

At my sudden question, Cassius stared at me. “...” “Because their horns don’t work,” I said and chuckled. “...” He blinked his eyes as is he finally realized that I am saying a joke. But it felt awkward that he did not smile a bit. And so, I thought of another joke that made me laugh so hard before. “I g-got into a fight with someone last night and it was totally my fault.” “...” “Because I was asked what was on the TV. And I answered, dust.”

Nina told us a story as we were eating per Hailey's request and she told a story about The Hare And The Tortoise. Mr. Tortoise dared Mr. Hare to go on a race with him and Hare agreed cause he felt it was an insult, but Mr. Tortoise had other plans, he placed four of his children who looked like him at the four rivers they were supposed to cross, so Mr. Hare ran till he died. And now Hailey is telling me that the tortoise's smartness made him won the race while I called it cheating. "It is not a crime to be smart uncle, and I loved what tortoise did."She said sticking out her tongue in a mocking way.

Jasmine said. "Hold on, hold on! I've got a joke that might lighten the caloric guilt. Why don't scientists trust atoms?" Jonathan said with a pause before adding, "Because they make up everything!" "Just when I thought I had heard your corniest joke," Florence said and rolled her eyes. The others burst into laughter, their mirth contagious, which made Clare smile. "Okay, I got another one," the young earl said. "Why did the scarecrow win an award?... Well, because he was outstanding in his field!"

I was seriously considering sneaking out, but that will definitely attract more attention. Jerry continued, “My roommate was like, 'Sure man, no problem, I'll take the couch. I just want her to be comfortable; she is going through a rough time. She had just had a breakup.' I interrupted him, and the first thing that came out of my mouth was, 'Dibs.' My roommate asked, 'What, the couch?'" The crowd laughed, and I was somewhat shocked; I had heard of comedians altering their experiences to make their stories funny, but I was a bit concerned about where he was going to take this joke.

I start with a small giggle on my face. “I spent my day work all day, mmm at my family company” I laugh. “W-what! That was so boring” Z laughs. “Huh, and I got drunk in the middle of the night, in my bedroom floor, and woke up on couch all the time” I end. Both of us laughing because of the story, our faces are getting red because of the laugh. “Oh, my goodness! That’s insane!” Z tried to stop her laughs and leave a little giggle on her face. “Yeah, my life was insane!” I laugh softly.
