How could I say no? “What does one wear to a coming-of-age party?” I asked. Gideon grinned. The dinner was exactly what Gideon had promised: small, warm, no more than forty people scattered between a long dining room and a terrace strung with lights. The Alpha himself met us at the door, a barrel-chested man with gray at his temples who clapped Gideon on the shoulder hard enough to stagger a smaller man and then, to my surprise, took my hand in both of his.

"Let's just enjoy tonight." He nodded slowly and followed me to the table. Grey sat at the head with me on his right and Sophia on his left. His parents across from us. Diaman and Katy beside them. Conversation flowed the way it did at these kinds of dinners, work stories and family updates and polite laughter, and I smiled at the right moments and contributed at the right moments and underneath all of it I watched Sophia glance at the door every few minutes. Apparently, there was a dinner party held by the mother of the most wanted bachelor in town, Drake Silvermoon. Every invited girl knew that it was not an ordinary dinner party; it was a competition to win Drake's heart. So they tried to look their best to please Drake’s eye, but still decent enough to pass his mother's moral standard. I was starving, so I just picked up my plate and started eating. Unexpectedly, Jenny snatched the plate from my hand, her voice sharp and piercing. "Why are you acting as if you've never eaten in ages? We haven't even split the cost of the dinner yet! Why are you eating? 326 dollars. Pay me now!" I thought I misheard her. You can't just come to our house and eat and drink for free, can you?"

The dinner party Geo had invited Carolina to was a small gathering. Six couples in attendance. It was held at a place called Nevermore Manor. It was owned by a long time friend and business associate of his father, Mr. Blake Nevermore. Geo had introduced her to the couples when they had first arrived upon entering the large home. No one seemed to notice that she didn't belong to their world. She was grateful for that. Before dinner was announced, the men went to Mr. Nevermore's study for Scotch and Whiskey while the women went to the Parlor Room for Champagne and wine. Carolina found a seat in a chair close to the door.

Weirdly enough, I looked forward to it. In honour of the invitation, Hailey and I drove to her place in time for dinner and as if it was previously planned out, Xavier and Temmy reached exactly the same time. So together, we all walked in. My jaw dropped at the sight of the dining room. It was decorated to perfection as though a huge event was about to take place. "What's going on here? Is there a party planned out?" I asked aloud, as I glanced around. "Yes," Mother's voice came from behind, followed by the soft clicking of her heels, "A dinner with my family will be the greatest party of my life."

"Make sure the wine is decanted by 6 PM. And tell the chef to switch the entree to Lobster Thermidor. No heavy sauces." The maid looked at Harper nervously. Harper nodded slightly, signaling her to listen. Isabella caught the exchange and smirked. "Oh, and Harper? Tonight is a formal business dinner. My father and the board members will be here. Try to wear something... appropriate. Nothing off the rack, please." [The Dinner Party] At 7:00 PM, the guests arrived. Bankers in Italian suits, board members with cigars, and at the center of them all, Richard Vance, the banking tycoon.

I caught sight of the time seeing that it was already dinner time. Walking up to her kitchen to make myself something to eat I spotted the white wine Sylvester gifted me, I brought it out of the package and saw that the invitation to the party was still there. “The party is today?” I gasped looking at the date of the party. I served myself some wine elegantly like I was a sommelier, I loved the feeling of it…

It wasn’t just a regular dinner, it was a special one. The families sat together across the dining table, enjoying a scrumptious meal of roasted chicken, steamed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The table was decorated with a beautiful centerpiece of fresh flowers and candles, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. As they ate, Mrs. Gray began to tell an embarrassing story about her son during his childhood. "Do you know what Stephen used to do when he was younger?" she said with a mischievous grin. "He used to crawl under the table and try to sneak bites of food from our plates without us noticing!"
