Chapter 14: The Final Draft The big cathedral had high ceilings that made Silas's footsteps sound quiet as he walked up to the altar. The light from his flashlight moved around on the marble like a big spotlight. Julian stood still keeping Elena safe behind him and his hand slowly moved towards the wires he had been working on. "You are so predictable, Julian " Silas said, his voice sounding scary and empty. "The hero always comes back to save the day.. You are not the hero today. You are the boss who could not handle the lies you told."

I spoke evenly, "Silas, the past is the past. I'm married to Levi now, and all I want is a peaceful life with him." Silas' eyes widened in disbelief. "But you barely know him! There's no way you would fall for him—not in this short of a time. You're just trying to get back at me! "The day I got married… It was you, wasn't it? Out of jealousy, you had the wedding gown and tiara taken away. Do you have any idea how humiliated I was?"

Once we got home, Jeremy thoughtfully helped me put my bag on a hook, change into slippers, and brought me to the dining hall to show me that he had cooked a feast for me. “I called my mom to ask about what’s good. Have a taste.” I pushed away the cutlery he gave me and snorted before mocking him, “You’re thinking about taking care of me now that the baby died? You should have done this before.” “I got stuck on an insignificant problem. Joy was right. What’s important is us properly spending the rest of our lives together.” I sneered. Joy really was the one pitching him ideas.

The more the light spread, the brighter Silas became. A comforting coolness washed over him, relaxing him as if he had drifted into a deep sleep.
