The Rules Of Silence
I turn around to find Peter, another classmate of mine from the next room, in pyjamas, eyes red and angry, “What the fuck? Some of us are trying to sleep.”
My body is vibrating too hard for me to speak. Timothy's door opens, and he pulls me in and bangs it closed so hard I almost land on my ass when he lets me go. The floor blurs around me, and my teeth sting, my nose doing that ringing thing it does when I want to cry, but I won't let myself.
His voice is so soft I don't recognise it is coming from him for a full second, “Li, what's wrong?”
He doesn't wait for me to answer, “Why are you here at this time of the night?”
