Silly Books Novels & Stories

Don't get it wrong. Sometimes stereotypes were spot on correct and sometimes they weren't. This was again, another case in Brianna Samuels. She wasn't one of those bitches that everyone knew about because of stereotypes, that lived for gossip and brought people down just so they felt better about themselves. Okay, well Brianna did live for gossip, but mostly the harmless type of gossip and she definitely did not live to step on people. The type of gossip she lived for would basically be classified as petty theft in contrast to murder. Basically who dated who and who's hot and whatnot.

The Little Mermaid popped out at me, as did The Emperor's New Clothes, but I thought maybe a story that people are foolish in public wouldn’t be the best choice. Then I looked around some more and picked up Floca’s Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11, Lewis’s The Wolf, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Dahl’s Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and a few others. I paused at the Harry Potter series, but while the girls were old enough, being werewolves, for the story, I knew the sizes of the books would put them off. Next year, I thought. They’d have handled textbooks by then and wouldn’t be so rapidly opposed to books an inch thick or more.

I open the box, and pull out the first book, and I frown even harder because it is titled - Your Dad Will Do, by a Katee Robert. Feeling realy confused, I pull out the second - Priest, by a Sierra Simone, these books are giving me a certain vibe. I pull out another, laughing at the incredulous title - Does It Hurt, by an H.D Carlton, feeling really curious, I open a random page, and frown as I try to make sense of the scene. I gasp as I begin to make sense of it, my mouth falls open at the full realization of what it actually is, the book falls out of my hand with a resounding thud.

I ignore it. The book is silly, some sort of romance written by an unknown author. It helps me relax just a bit, takes my mind off reality. I don't even hear the door open, too indulged in the words written in ink. Or hear anything. My nose was buried in the book, as if it would disappear any second.

There could be a slip up, I might just mistakenly say something I'd rather not say. One more reason why it was a kind of safe space with Kunle and Sophia. We talk about everything and yet, nothing. "Well, All books, all genres except sad fictions. I don't understand why books would have sad endings. Books like All the bright colors, The fault in our stars, We were liars and co. I hate reading those kind of books. I prefer books like Eleanor and Park, Holding up the Universe, A very large expanse of sea. Generally, light novels that'd just make me smile. A sun is also a star, books with breathtaking ending that'd make you feel things."

His drawings usually required some imagination, so it was possible that the wobbly shape wasn't a cake, but rather a little person holding a cake. That silly fool. Damn, Freckles. The first book I pulled out was called “Images You Should Not Masturbate To”. I snorted, flipping through a couple of pages and shaking my head. That sarcastic streak of hers ran deep. I grabbed another, the title catching my eye: “How to Traumatize Your Children: 7 Proven Methods to Help You Screw Up Your Kids Deliberately and with Skill.” I let out a short laugh, one that came from somewhere I’d almost forgotten existed. Then there were the others—Fancy Coffins to Make Yourself, Do-It-Yourself Coffins for Pets and People, and, for good measure, How to Raise Your IQ by Eating Gifted Children. I shook my head, glancing back at her still sleeping form.

As if vampires and fairies really exist! “What?” Eli asks, ripping his eyes away from the book. “Nothing,” I dismiss with a shrug. I balance my romance book on the armrest next to me. “I was just thinking that your book looks really silly, that’s all,” I tell him with an air of nonchalance. I brush my hair back over my shoulder and begin to fidget with a loose thread from the chair. I’m bored out of my mind! “Silly?” Eli asks, an amused, yet offended, look taking over his handsome face. “I beg your pardon, dearest, but my book is anything but silly.”

“It’s like a princess-themed hotel.” “Even being sick here feels kind of amazing.” Hearing her classmates’ admiration, the long-lost sense of satisfaction slowly returned to Dolly. “Dolly, this is a drawing I made for you. I hope you get better soon.” “I brought you building blocks.” “I brought a doll.” “I brought a water bottle.” When it was Sunny’s turn, she handed over the three pop-up fairy-tale books she loved most.
