He shoots me anyway, in my thighs and I stumble just as Clyde stands up triumphantly from the stool he was sitting on earlier. I feel the liquid silver spread through my bloodstream, filling my every pore and latching onto my organs. The silver burns and yet it sends a chill into my bones that no prayer to the moon goddess could ever warm.
I am having trouble breathing. The air feels like it is suddenly filled with silver fumes, sweeping from beneath my feet and looping around my head like an invisible corona, choking me.
