Chapter 48 Silver Eclipse The wind screaming across the Obsidian plateau tasted of crushed pine and raw, synthetic ozone. Laila stood at the apex of the cliff, the silver blade in her hand vibrating so intensely that it hummed against the bones of her wrist. Below her, the mist of the Dead Zone parted like torn silk, revealing the nightmare Davis Brooke had dragged up from the dark.

It radiated cold like a living thing, the silver singing with harmonics that bypassed the ears and went straight to the nervous system. Along the blade's edge, microscopic runes spelled out words in the old tongue: Truth. Pain. Revelation. "It will burn," Velis said conversationally, testing the blade's edge against his own thumb. This was not how I planned it. I stood at the edge of the madness, my fingers tightening around the Silver Blade. Its presence thrummed in my grip, a silent reminder of the power it held. My blood had bonded with it. I could feel it singing to me, begging to be used, to be fed. But not yet. The blade was not for these insects. It was for her. I let out a slow breath, my patience thinning as I watched the battle unfold. The Silver Moon pack was locked in combat with the Moon Blood warriors, their bodies twisting, shifting between forms as they tore into each other.

Realizing that Blaze was getting away with me, Beta Silver tackled him. Blaze might be the joker of the family, but I knew he had a blood thirst just like all of them. "Blaze stop." I pleaded, trying to get between the two before they kill each other. Blaze pushed me out of the way and tried to strike Beta Silver, only to be hit by Beta Silver on the jaw. Beta Silver would have gained the advantage but Havoc tackled him out of no where. "Take Mina, I got this." Havoc yelled at Blaze.

He’s trying to test my capabilities or perhaps waiting for me to tire out. But if Vlad was waiting for him to tire out, that would be a stupid move. Silver was already huffing and panting, and each breath irritated his throat. In a matter of seconds, earth and dirt were showering everywhere. There were scorch marks and blasted out sections on earth. The majority of the trees had caught fire, and the number of stone formations had decreased. Silver dodged another follow-up bolt, which crashed against a huge stone formation behind him, causing a massive explosion. A small stone landed on his forehead at an incredible speed, drawing blood.

Silver Dust? My hand froze in mid-air. "Good. Keep giving her the injections. Double the dose. She can't get her wolf back, not until Selene completes the succession and claims her birthright as Alpha of the Red Fang pack." That was Kael's voice. My mate. My Alpha.
