“Oh, you’ll disappear alright.”
The shot rang out loud and Sophia crumpled to the ground, her body hitting the floor with a lifeless thud.
I stumbled backward, my hands shaking. “Charlotte… please,” I stammered, my knees buckling. “We can fix this. I’ll do whatever you want.”
Her gaze locked on mine, and a smirk spread across her face. “What I want,” she said slowly, “is for you to burn for everything you’ve done.”
Before I could respond, the gunshot echoed through the room once more. A sharp pain exploded in my chest, and I collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.
