Before he could pull the trigger, we hear a gunshot go off then Santos falling right at Misha’s feet with his blood spattering all over Misha. I look at Karan to see if he shot him, but he has no gun then I looked at the door, and there stood the kid with a gun still pointed.

He leaned forward, placing the flash drive in the middle of my desk and said, "Now I have everything that will put Marcus away for life." I plugged it into my computer, and the footage came up immediately. It was a grainy black and white CCTV of an upscale apartment kitchen. A man who was clearly Marcus stepped into the frame, followed closely by Richard Jones. I watched in grim silence as the seconds ticked by, and they looked like they were having an argument. Then Marcus pulled out a gun, and some more words were exchanged before Marcus shot him and fled the apartment. “Jesus Christ!” I exclaimed, staring in disbelief at the screen as, moments later, a short and pudgy looking woman sprint

I stumbled backward, my hands shaking. “Charlotte… please,” I stammered, my knees buckling. “We can fix this. I’ll do whatever you want.” Her gaze locked on mine, and a smirk spread across her face. “What I want,” she said slowly, “is for you to burn for everything you’ve done.” Before I could respond, the gunshot echoed through the room once more. A sharp pain exploded in my chest, and I collapsed to the floor, gasping for air.

Sean flinched. I didn’t. The screen went black. The phone slipped from my hand and hit the floor, screen cracking.

He reached through the window and lifted the blanket off Mike. "Mother fu-" I screamed and Burney slammed his weight into me, shielding me from the shots aimed at Ronnie's chest. "Scorchers!" the officer yelled, putting his last two bullets through Mike's head. He sheathed his empty gun, exchanging it for the other as he grabbed Burney's door handle.

"Code 10–45. We need an ambulance. Thirty five, Simpson Street, Block six. Code 10–45. I repeat, we need an ambulance. A man is down with two bullets to his chest." It was all happening in slow motion. It had all happened in slow motion. His fingers pulling the trigger. The bullets traveling into his chest, the scampering from Sam to get in front of her, her deafening screams, the sound of the gun dropping to the ground, and the fulfilled laugh that followed afterwards.

They shout for Syd, the first guy steps on the wire and there’s a moment before it goes off, Sansom blurs out the front door again with one other person following on his heels. The other two are staring at the wire, and not moving. Idiots, the faster one gets blasted in the back, and thrown forwards out of frame. The other two are splattered all over the walls, there was no recovering from that. It’s a much bigger explosion than he’d thought it would be. Sansom comes back into frame to look inside again.
