Playing with the Enemy
I drank from my flask, my eyes on him as he watched me, his body shaking as he struggled to keep his eyes on me while feeding his lungs.
I exhaled loudly, spilling liquid on my already clinging shirt as I handed over the bottle. He didn’t pause this time. With a quivering hand, he drank, still holding my gaze.
He was fatigued, but he was still holding on. I was fine with that. I needed to exhaust him, and I needed to keep him drinking down what I offered.
I tilted my head slightly, letting my eyes roam over his face. “You okay there? Buddy?”
