My gag reflex wasn’t that strong after pulling an all-nighter. I launch a cushion at him…if he had that much energy he should have joined Jaxon and I last night at the borders. “Where were you last night?” I growl out to Knox. “In bed, with me.” Josie growls back. “Exactly, you are on borders tonight...” “Alright, alright.” He places his hands out in defence before throwing the cushion back at me as Ares enters into the room rubbing his eyes still half asleep. He got a good couple of hours and yet he yawns like he’s not slept, fucking teenagers.

"Oh, I should name him... Lunar. What do you think, Ares? " I prayed to all the Saints in heaven to answer my prayer right now and please let the spirit of peace possess Ares. "Lunar is great." Finally, I caught his attention. "Great, my ass. I had no sleep just to pick that mushroom from the ends of the Earth! "

I said and walked away. That night, Ares returned just before midnight, he was looking so tired and worn out and he collapsed to a couch immediately. This was my last and only night to be a good wife to him, I sprang up from the bed and looked at him. "Ares, why are you coming back this late? It's almost midnight." I said gently. "The day was hard, very hard, Layla." He drawled exhaustedly. "Your father had me finish everything for the week at the office, he said it was very important."

Can we talk tomorrow?” I let out a deep breath, nodding my head to him. “I know you're tired and don't worry about me, Ares. I will be fine.”

The road ahead might be challenging, but with Ares by my side, I knew we could face anything. As we left the café and headed home, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and strength. Ares's unwavering support and love were the pillars that held me up, and I was determined to be strong for both him and our baby. The warm afternoon sun bathed us in a golden glow, casting long shadows on the pavement. I glanced at Ares, his profile strong and resolute, and felt a surge of affection. I think?” His lips twitched like a smile threatened but didn’t dare show itself. “Come on. The ice cream place is just a short walk.”

This moment, seeing my child finding a mom who also happens to be my Queen, my future wife and Luna is beyond a beautiful blessing. "Thank you Mate," Ares whispers. "Ares," I mutter, my heart leaping for joy. He ignores me calling him out and he continues, "We will talk tomorrow mate, goodnight." I didn't know what to say. Ares isn't one for being sentimental, but in this moment, we both know it's what we both needed. A moment to thank each other for holding on just right. This could have been so much worse, but we held on just right.

His presence beside me was steady and comforting. As I lay there, my eyes began to close, the exhaustion overwhelming. Just before sleep took me, I felt the gentle pressure of Ares’ hand on mine. I looked up, surprised by the unexpected touch. His face was unreadable, but his eyes held a softness that made my heart ache in a good way. “Thank you,” I whispered again, my voice barely audible as sleep began to pull me under. Ares didn’t respond, but his gaze spoke volumes. I squeezed his hand lightly, showing that I was okay and grateful for his presence. Then, with a final sigh, I closed my eyes and let the warmth of his presence lull me into a deep, peaceful sleep.

That's right, Ares's body can't be like this. Ares's point of view turned much higher. That's why Ares often bows. So that the world in Ares's eyes doesn't look too... strange. Ares was embarrassed to admit it, but almost every night Ares cried under the covers after the nurses left. Ares wants to meet Papa, Mama, and Gigi. But they're not here anymore.

I tapped Ares' shoulder, making him look at me. "Are you okay?" I asked, worried. He nodded and smiled. "Yeah. I'm just tired from work. Sleepy too." I nodded. "Get some rest, Ares. My flight tomorrow is in the afternoon. You'll still see baby Asher before we go." He nodded again and kissed my hair. "Goodnight, my princess. See you tomorrow." I felt tears in the corner of my eyes. At last, he called me his princess again. I missed that.
