My body tightens. It’s a pretty black colored large book with gold fonts. I had looked for it the other day but Xaden had come in before I could find it. I promised Liam to steal this for him and in return— he would protect my lie. But funny enough, I don’t have a single urge to reach for the book. My attention returns to Xaden limp body. I lower my upper body to his, placing my ear in front of his heart. I can’t hear a single breath. His chest is not moving.
