A violent shudder passed through me, and I realized that it was true—I was Lila’s sister. My breath hitched as the truth slammed into me. My thoughts spiraled out of control. She would take care of her sister. Fuck. My girls. My heart fucking hurt for them, and anger was soon replaced by the worst fucking heartbreak I had ever felt. All I could do was scream out in agony and cry my fucking eyes out.

I just ignored them and walked out but couldn’t ignore the burning sensation in my heart and I swear I felt like dying at that moment. And not the soft, quiet kind with pretty sobs, but full-blown ugly crying from reading a few notes on documents. What the hell is wrong with me? This time, I let myself be consumed by the tears and the ache that I feel deep in my chest. I cry for my father, who sacrificed so much, yet still lost in the end.
