The Assassin
When the sharp scent of fear hits my nose, I stop.
“What…” Zephyr starts to ask, but I put up a finger and turn to her, putting the finger to my lips.
She nods and then I tap my nose. I feel her mind connect with mine, and I watch as she lifts her nose into the air, locking on the scent easily.
She puts her hand on my arm, and walks past me, heading toward the girl that is hiding somewhere in front of us.
Zephyr walks slowly, taking her time.
“I know you’re here, little one. I don’t want to hurt you,” she says, her voice soft and soothing.
