Some were yelling into communication devices, while others looked panicked.
Slade stood at the head of the room, his eyes locked on a screen on the wall. Damon stood beside him, his arms crossed, jaw tight.
The moment Slade saw me, he walked forward quickly.
“Ayla,” his voice was low, steady, but I could see the storm in his eyes.
“What’s going on?” I asked, my heart beating fast.
Slade took a deep breath. “There’s been an attack.”
My stomach dropped. “Where?”
“On Riven and his squad,” Damon said, and I looked at Maria. Her hands were in her hair, and she had a worried look on her face.
